"Supple spine and ribs"


Each class and the workshop (three lessons) during January and February will focus on the many different ways we can move our spine and ribs in relation to the whole self.

We will explore initiating movements like reaching, turning, bending and walking to engage the spine and ribs in connection with the whole self and the intention.

As you develop increased awareness, you automatically choose what feels best for you. Enjoy continuous, life-long improvement!

Our spine is built to move easily in many different directions and combinations of directions so that we can accomplish a wide range of movements for athletic, creative or everyday activities. Unconscious holding, or tensing, and a culture of "stand up straight" thinking, limits the natural freedom of the spine. causes stiffness, pain, poor posture and balance.

In this workshop, Lauren will guide participants through 5 to 7 movement explorations to lead you toward having a healthier spine and be pain free throughout your body. You will discover the power of subtle movement to change patterns in the brain itself, and learn how to
  • find and let go of interfering holding or tension.
  • use variations on inhalation and exhalation to ease or eliminate stiffness, aches & pain.
  • expand your breathing capacity as you learn more harmonious ways to move.
  • have healthier posture by bearing your weight through your skeleton (so your muscles are free for movement and breathing).
